Hello from Argentina!

Dear worried Jewish mothers and fathers and all other loved ones,

We had a wonderful first day in Argentina! We started the day bright and early with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. We then headed to ¨Iealdeinu,¨ which is a day care center for abused children. We learned about the mission and logistics behind running this innovative non-profit organization before having lunch. After lunch we helped out at the center by organizing books, games, and cleaning up the playground.

Then we had an adventure on the hot and crowded Argentinean metro followed by an amazing walking tour of downtown Buenos Aires by our trip leader, Flor. We saw La Casa Rosado which is where the president works and where Evita Peron made her famous speech from. We also saw the oldest synagogue in Argentina, the largest opera house in Latin America, and we even had a friendly stray dog join the tour for a bit!

After the tour we headed to Hillel for some much needed coffee and listened to a lecture about the history of Argentinean Jews. We got to exchange money (at an excellent rate too!) We ran back to the hotel for quick showers before heading out to dinner at Jackie O´s, where we had amazing steak, chicken, pastas, and warm bread. Afterwards, we walked around exploring the city, some of us indulging in some fantastic ice cream!

Basically, we are all having an amazing time and are looking forward to the adventures to come!

Buenos Noches,

Anna, Becca, Juliet, and Ruth
